What is this test?
The Whole Abdomen Ultrasound is a comprehensive, non-invasive imaging test that evaluates both the upper and lower abdominal organs in a single session. It uses sound waves to generate real-time images, allowing physicians to visualize your internal organs and detect potential abnormalities across multiple systems — without radiation or invasive procedures.
What is it used for?
Who should get this test?
Preparation Required:
How is the procedure performed?
You’ll lie comfortably on your back while a water-based gel is applied to your abdomen. The technician uses a handheld transducer to glide across the upper and lower regions, capturing images of all major abdominal structures. The procedure typically takes 20–40 minutes and is completely painless.
Risks & Safety:
Ultrasound is entirely safe — there’s no radiation, contrast dye, or needles involved. It’s suitable for all ages, including children and pregnant women.
Results:
A detailed report is generated, covering the liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, kidneys, bladder, and reproductive organs (in women), along with any fluid or mass findings. The report is usually sent to your physician within 24 to 48 hours.
Short Statement:
A complete abdominal scan covering all major organs — ideal for general check-ups or investigating unexplained pain and digestive issues.
