A zinc test is a diagnostic assessment used to measure zinc concentration in the body. There are two main types of zinc tests:

2. Zinc Taste Test: This is a less conventional, non-laboratory method. Individuals swish a zinc sulfate solution in their mouth and rate its taste, as zinc-deficient individuals are less sensitive to its taste. While inexpensive and quick, it is less reliable and more subjective than laboratory testing.

Doctors may recommend a zinc test for patients with symptoms of deficiency or malnutrition, particularly if they have underlying health conditions that impact nutrient absorption or metabolism, such as digestive disorders.
