A pelvis ultrasound is an image diagnostic imaging test that is generally conducted on women patients, providing high-quality images of the female pelvis region. The pelvis is the home of the vital female reproductive and urinary systems, which are comprised of:

• Cervix
• Fallopian tubes
• Ovaries
• Uterus
• Vagina
• Bladder

The pelvis ultrasound is also known as pelvis sonography and transvaginal ultrasound and this image diagnostic test work on the principles of sonar, the same technology used by navies to detect planes and ships. 

While the pelvis ultrasound is mostly women's health issues-oriented, men are also recommended this image testing technique to scan the bladder, prostate gland, and seminal vesicles for abnormalities. 

Depending on the gender and the medical conditions, the pelvis ultrasound is carried out in four different ways, namely:

• Transabdominal ultrasound (women)
• Transvaginal ultrasound (women)
• Transrectal ultrasound (men)
